New Toyota C-HR GR Sport joins range

Date: 22 January 2021   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Toyota has made its C-HR SUV available with the GR Sport equipment grade.

Although this means sportier styling and chassis tweaks, the GR Sport still comes with the same petrol hybrid powertrains as the rest of the C-HR range - a 122hp 1.8-litre, and a 184hp 2.0-litre.

Styling changes with the GR Sport include a more prominent front spoiler, black door mouldings and wheel arch surrounds, dark-tinted LED headlights and a dark chrome grille finish, while black finishing has been applied to the headlight and fog light housings, and to the central bumper section and Toyota emblem background.

At the rear there's a black spoiler, black reflector surrounds and an under-bumper trim, while 19in alloy wheels are also fitted, and a bi-tone paint finish is standard.

Inside there's new fabric upholstery for the front sports seats, with black Alcantara optional, as well as GR-branded scuff plates, and perforated leather steering wheel trim with red stitching.

Changes made with the aim of improving the car's handling include stiffened front and rear suspension, along with retuned, more responsive steering.

Prices for the C-HR GR Sport, which is on sale now, start at £31,395 for a 1.8-litre version, and rise to £33,015 for the 2.0-litre.

Toyota has also announced upgraded safety features for the whole C-HR range, including the addition of lane trace assist, and the extension of the pre-collision system to include cyclist detection in daylight driving.

A new 18in dark chrome alloy wheel design has also been made available with the Excel equipment grade.
