Design and tech updates announced for Mini range

Date: 27 January 2021   |   Author: Sean Keywood

A package of updates has been announced for the core Mini range, including the 3-Door Hatch, 5-Door Hatch, Electric and Convertible.

Exterior styling tweaks across the models include a larger radiator grille, new aerodynamically-optimised vertical air inlets, a body-colour central front bumper strip, new wheel arch contours, LED side indicators, and an integrated LED rear fog light.

New exterior paint colours and alloy wheel designs are also available, as is a new Multitone roof paint finish.

Inside, an 8.8in colour touchscreen - with an updated operating system - and piano black high-gloss surface are now standard, while buttons and air vents have been redesigned and chrome details have been replaced with black.

A redesigned sports steering wheel is also included, while a 5in digital driver's display is now standard across the ranges.

A new version of adaptive suspension is also available, as is the electric parking brake which is standard with the Mini Electric.

The Sport and Exclusive spec packages have also been updated. Sport models now come with adaptive suspension and rear park distance control, while Exclusive comes with rear park distance control and selectable drive modes.

The optional Driver Assistance Pack now includes lane departure warning, and also active cruise control with stop and go on cars with automatic transmission.

A new limited edition Electric Collection variant of the Mini Electric has also been introduced, limited to 300 UK examples, with features including a Multitone roof, black mirror caps and 17in Electric Collection wheels.

A new Mini App has also been introduced, allowing drivers to remotely check fuel or charge levels, and send sat-nav instructions directly from a smartphone to the car.

The updated Mini models are available to order now, with the first deliveries scheduled for spring. Prices start at £16,045 for a 3-Door Hatch, £16,745 for a 5-Door Hatch, £20,705 for a Convertible, and £27,920 for an Electric, while the Electric Collection model is priced at £36,420.
