New Volkswagen ID.4 goes on sale

Date: 28 January 2021   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Volkswagen's new ID.4 electric car has opened for orders in the UK.

The SUV is the second member of VW's ID electric family to arrive, following the ID.3 lower-medium car.

The ID.4 is initially being made available only as an introductory 1st Edition model, with a full regular range set to follow.

The ID.4 features 204hp electric motor, and comes with a 77kWh battery, allowing a range from a single charge of 310 miles on the WLTP cycle.

It has rapid charging capability of up to 125kW, meaning up to 199 miles of range can be added in 30 minutes.

Standard equipment with the 1st Edition model includes 20in alloy wheels, LED headlights and tail lights, and tinted rear windows.

The interior features heated seats, 30-colour ambient lighting, a 10in infotainment screen with sat-nav, and a windscreen-wide 'ID Light' LED band which helps to relay information about vehicle functions.

Safety and assistance features include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, and a reversing camera.

The ID.4 1st Edition is priced at £37,800, including the UK Government's £3,000 plug-in vehicle grant. The first cars are expected to arrive at dealerships in March.
