Vauxhall has unveiled the new, eighth-generation version of its Astra lower-medium car.
Two plug-in hybrid powertrain options will be available, with the most powerful producing up to 225hp, while there will also be petrol and diesel engines producing between 110hp and 130hp.
The new Astra, which is built on the third-generation version of parent company Stellantis's EMP2 platform, is 4mm longer than the outgoing model, but with a 13mm longer wheelbase. Boot capacity is 422 litres.
The new Astra's design features elements previously seen with the new Mokka SUV, such as the 'Vauxhall Vizor' front-end arrangement with slim Intelli-Lux LED headlights, and the 'Pure Panel' dashboard configuration with two 10in displays.
Wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity will be standard, and ventilated, massaging seats will be available.
The new Astra will also be available with driver assistance systems such as semi-automatic lane changing and adaptive cruise control with stop and go.
Orders for the new Astra will open this autumn, with the first deliveries expected early next year. Full UK specs and prices are yet to be announced.
