New Volvo C40 Recharge EV unveiled

Date: 03 March 2021   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Volvo has revealed its new C40 Recharge electric car.

The second all-electric model in Volvo's range, the C40 Recharge joins the XC40 Recharge which arrived last year.

The new model is a coupe-SUV with a high seating position, but a lower roof line, while its front-end styling is said to introduce a new 'face' for electric Volvos, including headlights with pixel technology.

The C40 Recharge is powered by two electric motors, one on each axle, linked to a 78kWh battery which is capable of being charged to 80% capacity in around 40 minutes.

Volvo says the model's driving range will initially be around 261 miles, but says this is expected to improve over time thanks to over-the-air software updates.

Like the XC40 Recharge, the C40 Recharge features an infotainment system jointly developed with Google, and based on the Android operating system, meaning it comes with Google services included.

The C40 Recharge will go into production this autumn. UK specs and prices will be announced at a later date.
