Goodyear announces UFO Drive electric car fleet partnership

Date: 25 March 2021   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Tyre company Goodyear has announced it will investigate ways to improve electric car fleet performance with rental company UFO Drive.

The deal will see the integration of technology including Goodyear's intelligent tyre monitoring system, and UFO Drive's e-mobility software-as-a-service platform.

Studies will also be conducted into how vehicle utilisation and servicing can be optimised to save money on energy usage and tyre replacement, and reduce fleets' carbon impact.

As part of the project, Goodyear will be exploring the use of its Total Mobility fleet package, previously applied to commercial vehicle fleets, with EVs.

Total Mobility features a suite of data-driven monitoring and predictive analytics systems to provide fleet operators with real-time tyre performance information.

Hakan Bayman, president of Goodyear's consumer business in Europe, said: "Working with UFO Drive is a unique opportunity for us to expand the successful Goodyear Total Mobility fleet solutions from our commercial truck and bus business to the rapidly evolving EV passenger fleet landscape.

"We anticipate overall demand for shared mobility services to continue growing in the coming years, with a particular emphasis on contactless solutions."

UFO Drive CEO Aidan McClean said: "Working with a tier one mobility company like Goodyear allows UFO Drive to expand on its mission to deliver a seamless transition to electric mobility for shared fleets.

"The electric revolution is accelerating, and we are delighted to collaborate with Goodyear to pioneer unique SAAS features such as fleet utilisation maximisation, energy savings and optimised electric routing for fleet owners."
