Specs announced for new electric Kia EV6

Kia has revealed full technical details of its new electric flagship, the EV6.
The car will be available with a choice of two battery packs, with capacities of 58kWh and 77.4kWh, and five power outputs - two with a single electric motor driving the rear wheels, and three with an electric motor on each axle to create an all-wheel drive set-up.
The 58kWh battery can be had with a 170hp rear-wheel drive powertrain, or as a 235hp all-wheel drive, while the 77.4kWh battery comes with a 228hp rear-wheel drive powertrain, a 325hp all-wheel drive, or a 585hp all-wheel drive - the latter exclusively with the range-topping GT performance model.
Kia says the rear-wheel drive EV6 with the 77.4kWh battery will be able to travel more than 316 miles between charges on the WLTP cycle.
It says the EV6 will offer 800V and 400V charging capabilities, and a battery charge from 10% to 80% capacity will be possible in 18 minutes.
The battery is equipped with a vehicle-to-load function, allowing the car to supply up to 3.6kW of power to run other appliances, such as a television, or to charge another EV.
Kia says driving range is maximised through a latest-generation heat pump, recovering waste energy from the car's coolant system, which is said to maintain 80% of the car's optimum driving range even when the outside temperature reaches -7 degrees C.
The EV6 is the first pure EV to be built on Kia's E-GMP platform for electrified vehicles, and has a 2,900mm wheelbase, which Kia says allows interior space comparable with mid-size SUVs, while there is a boot capacity of 520 litres with the rear seats in place, in addition to a small extra storage area under the bonnet.
On-board technology includes dual 12in screens with curved displays, and an augmented reality head-up display system.
Driver assistance systems include safe exit assist, which issues a warning if a car is about to pass when occupants are about the leave the vehicle, and the Highway Driving Assist 2 system, which will help keep the vehicle in the centre of its lane and a set distance from the car in front on motorways.
The EV6 is due to go on sale in the second half of this year. Prices are yet to be announced.
