Orders open for new Vauxhall Astra

Vauxhall has confirmed UK specs and prices for its new Astra lower-medium car, which is available to order now.
The new Astra is the first model from Vauxhall to come with a new, simplified range line-up, comprising only Design, GS Line, and Ultimate equipment grades - an approach Vauxhall says will also be applied to other new models in future, and rolled out to its existing range next year.
Standard equipment with the Astra in entry-level Design grade includes 16in alloy wheels, LED headlights and rear lights, a 10in digital instrument cluster, 10in touchscreen with sat-nav, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, and rear parking sensors.
Further equipment with the GS Line grade includes 17in alloys, a two-tone roof, privacy glass, a heated driver's seat, active cruise control, traffic sign recognition, front parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
Further equipment with range-topping Ultimate spec includes 18in alloys, Pixel LED headlights, a sunroof, an extended head-up display, a heated windscreen, rear cross-traffic alert, semi-autonomous lane change, curve speed adaption, wireless smartphone charging, and Intelli-Air smartphone control for vehicle functions.
The new Astra is available at launch with four engine options - 110hp and 130hp petrols, a 130hp diesel, and a 180hp plug-in hybrid, with a 225hp plug-in hybrid set to join the range next year, and a fully-electric version due to follow in 2023.
CO2 emissions figures are 123g/km for the 110hp petrol, 123-130g/km for the 130hp petrol, 114-121g/km for the diesel, and 24-27g/km for the 180hp plug-in hybrid.
Range prices start at £23,275 for a 110hp petrol Design, and rise as high as £35,315 for a plug-in hybrid Ultimate.
The first deliveries are scheduled for the first quarter of next year.
