Date: 05 November 2021   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Volkswagen has opened UK orders for the Taigo, its new SUV-coupe.

Measuring 150mm longer than the smallest SUV in VW's range, the T-Cross, but shorter and lower than the T-Roc, the model is available with a choice of 95hp, 110hp, and 150hp petrol engines.

The 95hp engine, which comes with a five-speed manual gearbox, has official WLTP fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures of 51.4mpg and 124g/km respectively.

The 110hp engine has figures of 51.4-52.3mpg and 124-125g/km with a six-speed manual gearbox, and 46.3-47.9mpg and 134g/km with a seven-speed DSG auto.

The 150hp engine, which comes only with the auto, has figures of 46.3-47.9mpg and 138g/km.

Three equipment grades are available - Life, Style, and R-Line. Standard equipment with the Life grade includes 16in alloy wheels, front fog lights, LED headlights, roof rails, an 8in Digital Cockpit display, wireless smartphone charging, Park Assist with front and rear parking sensors, lane change assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Further equipment with the Style grade includes IQ LED matrix headlights, 17in alloy wheels, two-zone climate control, a 10.25in Digital Cockpit Pro display, an 8in touchscreen sat-nav, and rear privacy glass.

The R-Line grade misses out on the IQ LED matrix headlights, but gains sporty design features instead.

Prices start at £21,960 for a 95hp Life, and rise as high as £29,140 for a 150hp R-Line.
