New Kia Niro specs and prices confirmed

Kia has announced UK specs and prices for the new second-generation version of its Niro.
As with the outgoing model, the new Niro is available with a choice of fully electric, plug-in hybrid, and conventional hybrid powertrains.
The electric Niro features a 204hp motor and a 64.8kWh battery, with Kia quoting a provisional 287-mile range on the official WLTP cycle.
The plug-in hybrid pairs a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined 182hp, and the conventional hybrid pairs the same engine with a smaller motor for a 141hp total output.
All powertrains come with a choice of three equipment grades. Standard equipment with the entry-level 2 grade on hybrids and PHEVs includes 16in alloy wheels, LED headlights, rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, an 8in touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, a 4.2in supervision cluster, forward collision avoidance, and smart cruise control, while fully-electric 2 grade Niros gain a 10.25in cluster, 17in alloys, and 11kW on-board charger and a battery heating system.
Stepping up to the mid-range 3 grade adds equipment to hybrid and PHEV Niros including 18in alloys, a 10.25in touchscreen with sat-nav, front parking sensors, keyless smart entry and start, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, rear privacy glass, driver lumbar support, wireless smartphone charging, multi-angle rear seats, highway driving assist and blind spot collision avoidance. Electric 3s also get V2L charging functionality.
Top-spec 4 versions of the hybrid and PHEV feature a head-up display, the 10.25in cluster, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, a powered tailgate, an electric sunroof, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, driver's side memory seating, front passenger lumbar support, remote parking, and parking collision avoidance assist. Electric 4s also get uprated highway driving assist and forward collision avoidance systems.
Prices for an electric Niro start at £34,995 with the 2 grade, and rise to £37,745 with 3 spec and £40,495 with 4.
PHEVs start at £32,775 with 2 spec, £35,525 with 3 and £38,275 with 4, while hybrids start at £27,745 with 2 spec, £30,495 with 3 and £33,245 with 4.
Pre-orders for the new Niro have now opened, with the first deliveries expected early in Q3.
