Orders open for new Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid

Jeep has opened orders for the new, fifth-generation version of its Grand Cherokee SUV, which is being sold in the UK solely as a plug-in hybrid.
Using Jeep's 4xe PHEV technology, the model's powertrain pairs a 2.0-litre petrol engine with two electric motors, for a combined output of 380hp. A 17kWh battery is said to allow an electric driving range of up to 30 miles on a combined cycle.
All versions feature four-wheel drive, and off-road driving systems such as Quadra-Lift air suspension and Selec-Terrain traction management.
There's a choice of four equipment grades: Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit Reserve.
Standard equipment with Limited spec includes 20in wheels, full LED exterior lighting, front and rear ventilated seats, a 10.25in digital instrument cluster, a 10.1in infotainment screen, and safety systems including forward collision warning, traffic sign recognition, and drowsy driver alert.
Features of the Overland grade include a dual exhaust, body-colour front and rear fascia, a panoramic sunroof, multi-colour ambient interior lights, and leather seats.
Features of the off-road-focused Trailhawk grade include all-terrain tyres, an electronic limited slip rear differential, a front disconnect anti-roll bar, and three skid plates.
The range-topping Summit Reserve grade gets 21in wheels, a 19-speaker McIntosh sound system, and a 10in interactive passenger display screen.
Prices for the new Grand Cherokee start at £69,900 with the Limited equipment grade, and rise to £73,900 with the Trailhawk grade, £75,900 with Overland, and £82,900 with Summit Reserve.
The first cars are due to arrive at showrooms early next year.
