Jaguar Land Rover introduces Amazon Alexa voice control

Date: 02 February 2022   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Amazon Alexa voice control functionality has been introduced for Jaguar Land Rover cars.

The system will be available with all new and existing JLR models fitted with the Pivi Pro infotainment system.

It allows control of functions such as sat-nav and audio, access to information such as weather and news updates, and lets the driver control smart home devices, with no phone connection required.

Alexa will be issued to more than 200,000 existing JLR vehicles via an over-the-air software update.

In addition, a Jaguar Land Rover Remote Skill also allows drivers to check on their vehicle from a remote device, checking information such as EV range, and whether the doors are locked.

JLR director of electrical and electronic engineering Alex Heslop said: "The seamless integration of Amazon Alexa with our Pivi Pro infotainment system gives customers simple, intuitive voice control of regularly used features, making the driving experience even more enjoyable.

"The fact we can also offer this new feature to existing customers proves the value of our software-over-the-air-updates."
