New Alfa Romeo Tonale revealed

Date: 08 February 2022   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Alfa Romeo has unveiled the Tonale, its new mid-sized SUV.

The new model, which will sit below the Stelvio in the company's line-up, will be available with a choice of 130hp and 160hp mild hybrid and 275hp plug-in hybrid powertrains. The mild hybrids will come with front-wheel drive, and the plug-in hybrid will be all-wheel drive.

The plug-in hybrid will come with a 15.5kWh battery, predicted to offer an electric-only range of more than 37 miles on a combined cycle. A full battery charge will take two-and-a-half hours with a 7.4kW fast charger.

As for the mild hybrids, although they only feature a 48V motor, they are also capable of electric-only running in limited circumstances at low speed, such as when parking and in traffic jams.

The Tonale is 4.53m long, 1.84m wide, and 1.6m tall.

Its interior features a 12.3in fully digital instrument display alongside a 10.25in touchscreen, and Amazon Alexa voice control.

There will be a choice of two equipment grades, Super and Ti, with the latter able to be augmented with a Veloce pack.

UK specs, prices, and an on-sale date are yet to be announced.
