Orders open for new Mazda2 Hybrid

Date: 16 February 2022   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Specs and prices have been announced for the new Mazda2 Hybrid, which is available to order now.

The new supermini is being supplied to Mazda by Toyota, and is based on the Toyota Yaris.

Like the Yaris, the Mazda2 Hybrid features a 116hp conventional hybrid powertrain. Fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures on the WLTP combined cycle are 70.6-74.3mpg and 87-93g/km respectively.

The new model will arrive in the UK in May, and will be sold alongside the existing Mazda2, which will still be available with 75hp, 90hp, and 115hp mild hybrid petrol engines.

The Mazda2 Hybrid comes with a choice of three equipment grades. Standard equipment with the entry-level Pure grade includes a 7in touchscreen, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, climate control, dynamic radar cruise control, lane trace assist, autonomous emergency braking, road sign assist, LED tail lights, and automatic windscreen wipers.

Further equipment with the mid-range Agile grade includes 15in alloy wheels, a reversing camera, an 8in touchscreen, and smart keyless entry.

The range-topping Select grade then adds further equipment including privacy glass, 16in alloys, power-fold mirrors, wireless smartphone charging, and blind-spot monitoring.

Prices start at £20,300 with the Pure grade, and rise to £21,150 for Agile and £23,610 for Select.

As for the existing Mazda2, it has received efficiency improvements to its engines which Mazda says reduces CO2 emissions by 11-14g/km depending on spec.

There's a choice of SE-L, Sport, GT Sport, and GT Sport Tech equipment grades, and range prices run from £16,575 to £20,945.
