Date: 27 January 2022   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Volkswagen has opened orders for the ID.5, its new electric SUV-coupe.

The ID.5 comes with a choice of 174hp, 204hp, and 299hp electric powertrains, all featuring a 77kWh battery pack providing a range of up to 313 miles on the official WLTP combined cycle. A maximum recharging capacity of 135kW means an 80% charge is possible in 29 minutes with a compatible charger.

The ID.5 is being offered in a choice of Tech, Max, and the sporty GTX equipment grades.

Standard equipment with entry-level Tech spec includes a panoramic sunroof, LED matrix headlights, 3D LED tail lights, the Travel Assist semi-autonomous driving system, an electric tailgate, three-zone climate control, an augmented reality head-up display, and 12-way electrically adjustable seats with massage function.

Further equipment with the Max grade includes 20in alloy wheels, dynamic chassis control, selectable drive modes, progressive steering, and a heat pump.

GTX models feature sportier bumper designs, anthracite finishing for the roof frame and C-pillar, seat upholstery with contrast red stitching, dark blue leatherette door panels, and GTX branding for the door sill protectors, steering wheel, and digital screens.

Prices are £50,550 for a 174hp Tech, £54,050 for a 174hp Max, £51,940 for a 204hp Tech, £55,440 for a 204hp Max, and £58,640 for a 299hp GTX.

Volkswagen has also opened orders for the ID.4 Pro, a new variant of its electric SUV. It marks a new entry-point to the range for the 77kWh battery option, the largest available with the model, allowing a range of up to 318 miles.

Prices are £41,430 with the Life equipment grade, and £44,945 with the Family grade.
