Technology update announced for Toyota Rav4

Date: 24 June 2022   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Toyota has unveiled new technology upgrades for its Rav4 SUV.

Among the new features is Toyota's latest multimedia system, featuring a larger, 10.5in screen. This comes as standard with cloud-based sat-nav, and also provides wireless Apple Carplay and wired Android Auto connectivity.

The updated Rav4 also gets a new digital combimeter in the instrument binnacle with flexible display settings - a 12.3in display is standard for all but entry-level models.

New standard remote services on mid-range models will allow the driver to check if the vehicle has been left secure, and to remotely lock and unlock it.

The Toyota Safety Sense package has gained new features such as intersection support for the pre-collision system, which will detect is the car is about to cross the path of any oncoming traffic or pedestrians and if necessary apply the brakes, and emergency steering assist, which helps the driver to steer around a pedestrian who has stepped into the road while staying in the vehicle's lane. On PHEV models, this system can also react to bicycles and parked vehicles, and the PHEV version can also detect oncoming vehicles in the same lane as the car and reduce the risk of a head-on collision.

Production of the updated Rav4 will start during the third quarter of this year.
