AFR update sees every rate increased

Date: 25 May 2022   |   Author: Sean Keywood

The latest Advisory Fuel Rates (AFRs) have been published by HMRC, with every single rate going up.

The rate increases - by as much as 3p per litre in some cases - come following big fuel price rises over the past few months.

The Advisory Electricity Rate for EVs, however, remains unchanged, at 5p per mile.

Hybrids are treated as either petrol or diesel cars for AFR purposes.

The new rates will apply from 1 June, but the old rates can still be used for up to one month from that date.

The new rates per mile are as follows:

Petrol:

1,400cc or less: 14p (up 1p)

1,401cc to 2,000cc: 17p (up 2p)

Over 2,000cc: 25p (up 3p)

Diesel:

1,600cc or less: 13p (up 2p)

1,601cc to 2,000cc: 16p (up 3p)

Over 2,000cc: 19p (up 3p)

LPG:

1,400cc or less: 9p (up 1p)

1,401cc to 2,000cc: 11p (up 1p)

Over 2,000cc: 16p (up 1p)
