Bigger battery among Lexus UX 300e upgrades

Date: 12 October 2022   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Lexus has announced updates to its electric UX 300e, including the fitting of a bigger battery.

The upgrade, which takes energy capacity from 54.3kWh to 72.8kWh, will mean a range increase on the WLTP combined cycle from 196 miles to 280 miles.

Other changes to the model mechanically will include alterations to steering and shock absorber settings, with the aim of improving dynamic performance, while additional spot-welding increases body rigidity. Improvements have also been made to sound insulation, designed to reduce cabin noise.

The UX 300e will also gain new Lexus Link multimedia systems, with 8in or 12.3in touchscreens replacing the previous trackpad-controlled system. Increased computing power means improved response times, and cloud-based sat-nav will be standard, while a new voice recognition system will operate the Hey Lexus on-board assistant.

Upgrades to the car's safety systems will include the addition of intersection turning assist, and emergency steering assist, while the adaptive cruise control system will gain curve speed reduction.

The first deliveries of the updated UX 300e are expected during the second half of 2023. Full specs and prices are yet to be announced.
