New Polestar 3 electric SUV unveiled

Date: 13 October 2022   |   Author: Sean Keywood

The new Polestar 3 electric SUV has been revealed.

As standard, the model comes with a 489hp output from two electric motors, with an optional Performance Pack increasing this to 517hp, while a 111kWh battery pack allows a preliminary range of 379 miles on the WLTP cycle.

The Polestar 3 runs an Android Automotive infotainment system via a 14.5in screen, with over-the-air updates included.

Other standard equipment will include air suspension, a full-length panoramic glass roof, all-LED lighting, retractable door handles with proximity sensors, and 21in alloy wheels.

In addition, standard equipment for the first model year will include the Plus Pack and Pilot Pack, with equipment including a Bowers & Wilkins 3D surround sound system, soft closing doors, a head-up display, and pilot assist.

Among the Polestar 3's technological features is an Nvidia Drive core computer running a package of sensors and cameras to power driver assistance systems. This will be augmented by an optional Pilot Pack with Lidar, available from Q2 2023, said to enable enhanced 3D scanning of the car's surroundings in preparation for autonomous driving.

Initial orders for the Polestar 3 are open now, with an indicative starting price of £79,900. The first deliveries are expected from the fourth quarter of next year.
