VRA meeting to discuss legislative issues

Date: 17 August 2023   |   Author: Sean Keywood

New legislative issues affecting the used car sector will be the subject of the Vehicle Remarketing Association's (VRA) September member meeting.

The key briefing will come from Louise Wallis, automotive retail specialist and director of Auto Strategies, who will present the latest developments in block exemption, the government's review of MOT test intervals, and the impact of the new Flexible Working Act.

VRA legal counsel and partner at motor industry legal specialist Geldards Jon Butler will then look at the Consumer Credit Act review, new legislation covering digital markets, and current High Court class action involving three major motor finance companies.

Other contributors to the meeting will include Andy Webb of Brego, Michael Tomalin of City Auction Group and PurpleRock, Gordon Cockle of Aston Barclay, and Anthony Baker of Manheim.

VRA chair Philip Nothard said: "This is the final VRA member meeting before our big annual VRA seminar at Warwick University in November, and we are very pleased to have been able to deliver such an impressive line-up of speakers.

"In terms of legislation, there is quite a lot going on at the moment that is of relevance to our members, while it is always fascinating to hold a panel discussion involving the auction sector, simply because they are so close to the heartbeat of the used vehicle market. It promises to be a very worthwhile session."
