Kia introduces over-the-air software updates for full model range

Date: 27 February 2023   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Kia has enabled over-the-air software updates for all cars in its range, from the 2022 model year onwards.

The functionality, for cars with the Kia Connect system, means updates can be received wirelessly, with drivers no longer needing to download updates manually, or visit a Kia dealer to have them installed by technicians.

Kia's first over-the-air update package includes a rollout of the EV6's 'Eco' menu to all other Kia electric models, improved voice recognition, and improved 3D map visualisation.

Updates can be enabled with the latest software version from Kia's website.

Once the updates are activated, drivers will be notified when an update becomes available via a pop-up notification on the in-car infotainment system, asking them to authorise the download and installation. Once the process is over, they will be invited to scan a QR code to find out about the changes.
