Updated Suzuki Swace unveiled

Date: 21 February 2023   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Suzuki has introduced an updated version of its Swace lower-medium estate car.

The model is closely based on the Toyota Corolla, with both built at Toyota's Burnaston factory in Derbyshire.

As with the recently-facelifted Toyota, a major update to the Swace is a power boost for the 1.8-litre petrol hybrid powertrain, up from 122hp to 140hp. Official WLTP fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures are 62.7mpg and 102g/km respectively.

New safety systems include emergency driving stop, which monitors the driver to determine if they are inattentive and can bring the vehicle to a stop and activate hazard warning lights if necessary.

Safe exit assist, standard with top-spec models, triggers a warning if a door is about to be opened into the path of an oncoming vehicle or cyclist, while the car's pre-collision system has been updated with a wider range and additional motorcycle detection.

With the update, Suzuki has also introduced a new range structure for the Swace, consisting of Motion and Ultra equipment grades.

Standard equipment with Motion spec includes LED tail lights, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, an 8in LCD colour information screen, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless Apple Carplay and wired Android Auto connectivity, a reversing camera, a new digital instrument cluster with three display modes, and dynamic radar cruise control.

Further equipment with the Ultra grade includes bi-LED projector headlights, safe exit assist, smart door locking, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, interior ambient lighting, and wireless smartphone charging.

The updated Swace is on sale now, priced at £28,999 for Motion spec, and £30,799 for Ultra.
