Volvo issues remote Apple Carplay update

Date: 01 June 2023   |   Author: Sean Keywood

The functionality of Apple Carplay on some Volvo cars has been improved via an over-the-air update.

Issued to cars with built-in Google infotainment, the update includes functions such as Apple Maps and other supported navigation apps becoming viewable in the cars' driver displays behind the steering wheel.

In addition, call information can now also be viewed via the driver display, while the central display now features improved media information and interaction, making it easier to play, pause and skip between songs.

Other elements of the update apply to wider vehicle functions, including the ability to switch between driver-support functions using the steering wheel buttons, and to choose whether the door mirrors should fold or not when locking the car. Other changes are said to include minor engine calibration optimisations and bug fixes.
