Facelifted Volkswagen ID.3 revealed

Date: 02 March 2023   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Volkswagen has unveiled an updated version of its ID.3 lower-medium electric car.

Exterior styling changes include a new bumper, a bonnet which has been redesigned to appear longer, tweaks around the front wheels to improve aerodynamics, and rearranged tail lights.

Inside, Artvelours Eco - a microfibre material made from 71% recyclables - is used for the door trims and seat covers, while more soft surfaces feature around the cockpit and door trims.

A new-generation infotainment system, runs on a now-standard 12in central touchscreen, and 5.3in driver display. VW says the infotainment menu system has been adjusted based on driver feedback, with the aim of making the layout clearer, and with the charging menu is now located on the first level of the touch display.

The ID.3 now comes as standard with the Plug and Charge function, with which it authenticates itself and starts the charging process when the charging cable is plugged in at a charging station, and the intelligent Electric Vehicle Route Planner, which calculates charging stops on longer journeys to be as efficient as possible, based on factors including traffic levels and the state of battery charge.

UK specs and prices are yet to be confirmed.
