Vauxhall Corsa updates include improved EV battery

Date: 24 May 2023   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Vauxhall has revealed an updated version of its Corsa small car, including an upgraded battery for the Corsa Electric variant.

The new-generation 51kWh battery allows a range of 255 miles between charges on the WLTP cycle - a 15% increase compared with the previous version.

An upgraded 156hp motor is also joining the range, and will be available alongside the existing 136hp version. Both come with an 11kW onboard charger, allowing a full battery charge in five hours and 15 minutes, while a 100kW rapid charge will go from 10-80% in 30 minutes.

Vauxhall has also announced that petrol mild hybrid Corsas will be made available, as well as conventional petrol models, though details of these are yet to be confirmed.

Exterior design changes include the addition of Vauxhall's 'Vizor' front-end arrangement, with LED pixel matrix headlights available.

Inside, an upgraded infotainment system features Vauxhall's latest-generation user interface, while the size of the touchscreen has been increased to 10in. The 7in driver display receives new graphics, and there's a new steering wheel design, new seat patterns, and a new gear lever, while wireless smartphone charging is newly available.

Connected 3D sat-nav is also available, with over-the-air updates, and there's a new high-res rear-view camera.

Driver assistance technology includes adaptive cruise control with speed limiter, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

Orders for the updated Corsa will open later this summer, with the first deliveries due in Q4. Full UK specs and prices are yet to be announced.
