New Volkswagen Tiguan revealed

Date: 19 September 2023   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Volkswagen has unveiled the new, third-generation version of its Tiguan medium SUV.

Among the highlights is a new plug-in hybrid powertrain said to allow an electric range of around 62 miles, and be available with DC fast charging capability. Other engine options will include petrol, mild hybrid petrol, and diesel.

Compared with the outgoing Tiguan, VW says the model's aerodynamic drag coefficient has been improved from 0.33 to 0.28, improving efficiency. Its length has increased by 3cm, while boot capacity is increased by 37 litres to 652 litres.

The new Tiguan is based on VW's latest MQB Evo platform, allowing features such as improved adaptive chassis control.

The interior gets a new-generation Digital Cockpit system, with an infotainment screen measuring up to 15in, as well as a new head-up display, and a new rotary control for functions such as audio volume and background lighting colours.

Newly-available features for the Tiguan range will include IQ.Light HD matric headlights and pneumatic massaging front seats.

The new Tiguan is due to arrive in dealerships during the first quarter of 2024. UK specs and prices are yet to be announced.
