Volvo has started UK sales for renamed versions of two of its EVs, with new powertrain options also available.
The models formerly known as the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge are now the EC40 and EX40 respectively.
Together with the rebranding, a new single motor extended range powertrain has been added to the line-ups, alongside the existing rear-wheel-drive single motor and all-wheel-drive twin motor options.
The new powertrain provides a greater driving range - up to 346 miles in the EC40 and 343 miles in the EX40, thanks to a 78kWh battery (with 75kWh usable capacity).
A 252hp electric motor on the rear axle provides the drive, and battery recharging speeds of up to 140kW are possible.
In addition, Volvo is also introducing a new optional Performance software upgrade with twin motor cars, increasing their output from 408hp to 442hp. As well as being available with new cars, this will also be available for installation with previous-model-year cars as a software update.
Volvo has also introduced a simplified price structure, with like-for-like on-the-road prices for the EC40 and EX40 Plus and Ultra models (the EX40 is also available in entry-level Core grade).
Prices for the EC40 start at £52,555 with single motor Plus spec, while the EX40 starts at £45,955 with single motor Core spec.
In an update to Volvo's wider model range, the Recharge name has been removed from all plug-in hybrid models, while the former Ultimate equipment grade has been changed to Ultra.
