New Renault Symbioz hybrid SUV revealed

Date: 02 May 2024   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Renault is adding a new medium SUV to its line-up.

The manufacturer says the new Symbioz will give it a stronger 'entry-level' presence in the segment, in which it already fields the Arkana and Austral models.

Slightly smaller than those cars (4.41m long versus 4,57m and 4.51m respectively), Renault says the Symbioz is aimed at fleet owners looking to electrify "while keeping TCO on a tight rein", as well as at families.

The Symbioz is launching with a single, hybrid powertrain option, pairing a 95hp petrol engine with a 49hp electric motor and a 24hp high-voltage starter generator. A 1.2kWh hybrid battery is provided.

The model features a boot capacity of up to 624 litres, and a further 24.7 litres of cabin storage space.

A multimedia system with built-in Google is standard, accessed through a 10.4in vertical touchscreen.

Up to 24 driver assistance systems will be available.

The Symbioz UK line-up will include Techno, Techno Esprit Alpine, and Iconic Esprit Alpine equipment grades.

Orders will open in July. Prices are yet to be announced.
