AA Tyres, the breakdown company’s mobile tyre fitting service, has expanded its fleet mobile tyre service in response to increased demand in Bristol, Bath and surrounding areas.
The firm has added 10 new VW Crafter vans to its fleet, which now totals 35 vehicles, in order to reach into the west country.
According to the AA, the new vans – which are equipped to change tyres, carry out puncture repairs and wheel balancing – will allow the company to fit up to 25,000 more tyres per year. It currently fits 100,000 tyres a year, with half of the custom coming from people who have never used a tyre fitting service before.
The service currently operates between London, Birmingham and Manchester and the surrounding areas.
“We’re still in the grip of the on-demand revolution, and it’s showing no sign of slowing,” said Mark Shankland, co-founder of AA Tyres. “People have come to expect almost universal convenience offered by on-demand delivery from so many aspects of their daily routine, so shouldn’t it be the same with tyres?”
“Our research indicates that people are still leaving it too late to get their tyres changed, simply because they can’t spare the time to drive to a depot and wait for the work to be carried out,” he added.
