The Auto Windscreen brand, along with some assets including its freehold properties and 19 leasehold sites, has been bought and will be resurrected by its previous managing director Nigel Davies.
Trifords Limited, part of the Markerstudy Group, acquired the rights to the name and the other assets from the liquidators of Auto Windscreens Limited, and have pledged to create 250 jobs.
“It is fantastic news that the Auto Windscreens brand will continue, and from the ashes the phoenix will rise again,” said Davies. “Our intention is to provide a premier service, attracting fleet, insurer and personal customers. My aim is to grow the business in order to become a major player in the UK windscreen business.”
The original Auto Windscreens business lost its battle for survival late last month, with liquidator Deloitte announcing its closure and the loss of more than 1000 jobs.
The firm went into administration on 14 February, and despite what Deloitte called an “intensive marketing period”, a buyer for the entire business couldn’t be found.
Auto Windscreens called in the administrators after running short of cash in the wake of Aviva terminating its contract, and HMRC issuing a winding up petition.
