Mileage tracking service Autotrip is now available for drivers to use as a mobile app.
Autotrip previously relied on recording business journeys through a tracker installed in drivers’ cars, but the new app instead allows drivers to record their trips using their phone’s GPS.
The app runs automatically in the background and records every mile driven. Drivers can then classify trips made as business or personal, before submitting a mileage claim, including all of their business trips for the month, to their employer.
Those approving claims can then review every trip on a map, store all claims online and set their own custom mileage rates if needed.
Autotrip James Finlayson said: “We’re thrilled to make Autotrip available on iOS and Android.
“Our customers have long asked for this, and we’re excited to bring to market a reliable mileage tracking app that’s suitable for any business size, regardless of whether you’re a self employed individual or a large fleet with hundreds of drivers.”
Autotrip is designed so that drivers’ private journeys are visible only to them, and calculates the VAT amount businesses can reclaim on their fuel expenses.
Mileage claims are HMRC-compliant, use up-to-date mileage rates and are stored for the required six years and beyond.
Autotrip also offers a team plan for larger fleets, which gives access to in-depth analytics and a centralised account to manage the company’s business mileage.
The mileage tracker device is also still available as an alternative to the mobile app.
