BusinessCar was invited to speak at the ACFO electric vehicle seminar and editor Paul Barker shared his experiences of running a Vauxhall Ampera on our long-term test fleet for six months.

Barker addressed the practical realities of living with a plug-in vehicle day-to-day, and argued that, if the usage profile is right, which in his case it was, the running cost benefits could be huge.

He warned delegates not to gloss over drivers’ requirements in favour of the technology and cited the Ampera’s small boot and lack of space for child seat.

He also stressed that engaging with facilities staff about charging requirements and installation was vital if implementation on a fleet was to be a success.
