Just 6% of businesses that use a contract hire or fleet management firm to help with the running of their fleet feel they need assistance with their grey fleet operation.
That’s the findings of contract hire firm Grosvener Leasing, which asked more than 100 customers to rank what was important to them.
The survey also found that 57% of businesses surveyed thought that grey fleet management was unimportant, while 36.7% remained impartial.
Beyond helping to manage fleets of cars (92.7%), the most in-demand services for leasing companies are online fleet management reporting (54.7%), daily rental (47%) and medium-term rental (44%).
Another service widely offered within the fleet sector – risk management – was widely panned by respondents, with just over half (52%) rating it as unimportant or very unimportant.
Grosvener said it was surprised by the lack of interest in grey fleet and risk management solutions: “Without proper measures in place, these are areas that could leave a company very exposed if a driver has a serious accident,” said Mary Dopson, customer services director at Grosvener Leasing. “They are also both areas where a lot of money can be saved and, rather than being viewed as an expense to the business, should be seen as offering a strong return on investment.”
