Peugeot has admitted the 3008 is likely to be classed as a mini-MPV for residual value purposes.
The brand was reluctant to name direct rivals or place the 3008 in a body-style category at the international launch, preferring to call it a combination of “a hatchback, an MPV and an SUV”.
“We do not like to spend much time on the competition,” said a Peugeot representative. “It is up to you to make the comparisons in terms of market position.”
However, another representative later admitted the car would be classified as a mini-MPV for residual valuing purposes, despite prices expected to range from mid-way up the 308 hatch (£16,000) to the top of the 308 SW ranges (£21,000).
Actual pricing is expected to be announced in June for the 3008, with the first cars going to customers in November.
