SMR costs across Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge models have been cut by up to 25% after an overhaul of Chrysler Group’s servicing regime.
The company says increased reliability and economies of scale related to platform sharing account for the drop.
“The quality and durability of components used across the Chrysler Group range has improved significantly and we have seen a 12% reduction in warranty costs over the last two years,” said Chrysler Group boss Peter Lambert.
“The fact that parts and engines last longer and require less maintenance has enabled us to reduce the content of each dealer service and therefore the time taken to complete a service has been reduced.”
