Chrysler is taking on the fleet market with its Ypsilon city car and Golf-sized rival Delta, with results expected by next year, according to senior product manager Steve Mirfin.
Mirfin said the cars are “very relevant to fleets” and expects them to be a user chooser type choice. “We’ve not had cars available to fleet users previously. But now we’ve got the cars in for people to drive. And key fleet people are being offered demos,” Mirfin said.
Meanwhile, corporate sales manager Daron Russell is speaking with leasing and contract hire companies to try and get on fleet choice lists.
Mirfin continued: “We definitely need to get into the fleet business. But we don’t want to do heavy discounts, which will damage RVs.”
He added: “I think by Q1 of next year we’ll have some results for our efforts.”
Both cars went on-sale in September, with the Ypsilon offering both a diesel and petrol engine at 99g/km, while the lowest-emitting Delta is 120g/km.
