Citroen has announced that top-of-the-range versions of its new C3 Aircross compact SUV will now come with autonomous emergency braking as standard.
The firm’s Active Safety Brake system, with forward collision warning, is now included with the Flair trim, having previously been available as a cost option.
The system brakes automatically when a risk of collision is detected at speeds between 3mph and 52mph, with a multi-purpose camera at the top of the car’s windscreen used to detect obstacles such as stationary vehicles or those moving in the same direction as the car at a slower speed.
The C3 Aircross previously achieved a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating at the end of 2017.
Citroen says the addition of Active Safety Brake as standard delivers new insurance group ratings for Flair models.
In total, Citroen says the C3 Aircross is available with 12 driver assistance and safety systems, and four connectivity technologies.
The car is available with a choice of 81hp, 108hp or 128hp petrol engines, or 99hp or 118hp diesel engines. The 108hp petrol is also available with an automatic gearbox.
Prices for the Flair trim start at £16,990 for the 81hp petrol engine, and rise to £19,810 for the 118hp diesel engine.
The best CO2 emissions figure is achieved by the 99hp diesel engine, at 104g/km.
