The UK Government has confirmed details of five more EVs eligible for its new Electric Car Grant.

The Cupra Born, Peugeot E-208 (pictured), Peugeot E-2008, Peugeot E-Rifter, and Volkswagen ID.3 join previously announced models from Alpine, Citroen, Nissan, Renault, and Vauxhall in qualifying for the scheme.

All the models so far qualify for the £1,500 ‘Band 2’ grant – none have yet been announced as eligible for the £3,750 ‘Band 1’ grant.

Cupra and Seat UK managing director Marcus Gossen said: “At Cupra, we’ve never followed the crowd and when it comes to electrification, we’re charging ahead.

“The enhanced government Electric Car Grant is a powerful step forward, and when combined with Cupra’s disruptive design, further offers, and flexible finance, it means more drivers can experience the thrill of electric mobility without compromise.”

Peugeot UK managing director Nicola Dobson said: “Peugeot already offers the most extensive electric line-up of any mainstream brand in Europe, and the Electric Car Grant makes the move to electric even more accessible on E-208, E-2008 and E-Rifter.

“We welcome this UK Government initiative to give consumers confidence and lower the barrier to EV ownership.”

Volkswagen UK director Rod McLeod said: “Everyone at Volkswagen has been working hard for several years to increase the pace of electrification and help a broader base of buyers to be able to access and embrace all-electric motoring.

“The new Electric Car Grant from the government supports this, and alongside competitive pricing and finance options, we are encouraging more drivers to make the switch to sustainable mobility.”
