Peugeot has revealed the first images of its new 208 lower medium hatchback. A replacement for the ageing 207, the 208 will offer a series of low capacity petrol and diesel engines, the cleanest of which will be the e-HDi diesel with a stop-start system, creating 87g/km and 83.1mpg.
Five models will be available in total and none of the diesels (as yet unnamed in size or power output) will exceed 99g/km. The petrol range consists of 1.0- and 1.2-litre three-cylinder engines, which start at 99g/km and 65.7mpg.
Smaller and lighter than the car it replaces, Peugeot also claims that the 208 will have more space for rear seat passengers and a larger boot. All-new styling further distinguishes it from its predecessors.
