Renault has revealed the larger of its two mini-MPVs, with the new Grand Scenic coming in five- and seven-seat forms to sit alongside the regular Scenic model that was revealed earlier this year. All versions are due to arrive in the UK late this year, with the Grand model being 240mm longer and offering up to 222 litres of extra boot space than its sibling.
The new model is 750mm longer than the outgoing third-generation Grand Scenic, with an additional 40 litres of boot space for the five seater at 718 litres, increasing to 866 with the rear seats pushed fully forward. Renault hasn’t released details of the seven-seat’s boot capacity, though it claims a variety of cabin storage areas add a further 38.5 litres, including four under-floor compartments.
Though emissions will be revealed later this year, along with pricing, the French brand has confirmed that 110, 130 and 160hp diesels, including the hybrid assist model, will be joined by 115 and 130hp petrol units. Hybrid assist, available on the 110hp diesel, allows an electric motor to recover energy during deceleration and deploy it to add performance and increase economy for the diesel engine.
Renault has confirmed 20-inch wheels will be fitted as standard across the range, as will active emergency braking with pedestrian detection, while higher trim levels will get an 8.7-inch tablet-style multimedia system.
