Volvo has revealed a jacked-up version of its V90 estate.
Known as the V90 Cross Country, the model is expected to go on sale early next year and is likely to be powered by the firm’s 190hp 2.0-litre D4 diesel unit and 2.0-litre 225hp D5 oil-burner.
The lower powered model emits 119g/km of CO2 and returns 62.8 in the standard V90 estate, while the more powerful variant returns 57.6mpg and emits 129g/km of CO2.
The V90 follows in the footsteps of other Country Cross variants by offering an increased ride height over standard estates, which the firm claims will allow buyers to “seek out a more experienced-based lifestyle that occasionally takes them off the beaten track.”
“Our cars are well known for their safety, strength and durability. With all-wheel drive, increased ride height and a chassis optimised for comfort and control in all weather and road conditions, the new V90 Cross Country takes our V90 estate and adds the heart of an explorer,” said Peter Mertens, senior vice-president of research & development at Volvo.
