A new digital tool developed by software specialist Chevin is said to have saved some fleets “six figure sums” by quickly processing fines picked up by drivers on business journeys.
The firm’s PCN (Penalty Charge Notification) module is available to existing users of the company’s Fleetwave software system and is said to process PCN and NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) data faster than traditional methods and build up a database of risky drivers and routes.
Managing director Ashley Sowerby said: “By identifying trends in drivers collecting PCNs or speeding tickets, businesses can take a proactive approach to dealing with the issues raised such as changing delivery arrangements or implementing speed awareness training.
“In turn, by having access to a centralised database of drivers who have received NIPs. businesses are able to better protect themselves against the legal and financial risk of drivers failing to declare penalty points.”
The firm claimed that some firms had been paying “low six figure sums in fines every year” as a result of failing to pick up the charges and pass them on to the relevant employee in time.
