Ford has announced it has updated its Mondeo upper medium model’s trim line-up for next year, condensing the number of equipment levels available down to five from the current seven.
The revised range now consists of the Zetec Edition, ST-Line, ST-Line Edition, Titanium Edition and Vignale.
Mondeo pricing starts from £19,445 for the Zetec Edition model; however, for fleet buyers, Ford is offering price reductions in order to minimise tax liability. Vignale on-the-road prices are being reduced by £3,000, Zetec and ST-Line Edition prices by £2,500 and Titanium Edition prices by £2,000, with Ford claiming fleet drivers can save up to £720 over three years thanks to the price reductions.
According to Ford, 85% of all new Mondeos end up in the hands of fleet customers, while it claimed CAP data has shown residual values have improved compared with the previous model.
Despite the extra equipment on offer, Ford’s leasing division claimed monthly repayments for the Titanium Edition 150hp 2.0-litre diesel five-door model remain at £258 over three years.
As standard, models are equipped with sat-nav, DAB digital radio, autonomous emergency braking to mitigate or avoid low-speed collisions, front/rear parking sensors and cruise control with speed limiter.
ST-Line models, meanwhile, now come with front, rear and side body styling and lowered sports suspension, while the ST-Line Edition adds privacy glass and 19in rock metallic alloy wheels.
The Titanium’s kit list adds leather heated seats, while the range-topping Vignale model adds 19in dark tarnish alloys and darkened fog lamp bezels, a lower grille and side stripes.
“We know Mondeo customers want their cars to stand out,” said Owen Gregory, Ford of Britain’s fleet director. “This has propelled Mondeo drivers from core series to distinctly sporty and luxury-looking models. Making this easier and more affordable takes Mondeo into 2018 in style.”
