Ford has launched a real-time telematics system, which it claimed would help improve efficiency and reduce fleet fuel costs by up to 20%.
The software is run and operated by Telogis. It uses real-time information streamed from each vehicle allowing managers to track the vehicle’s location, fuel consumption, driver behaviour and provide safety and maintenance alerts.
The suite is compatible with the firm’s Transist and Ranger range, while the Telogis hardware can be fitted to any vehicle and Ford said the telematics system will be a factory-fitted option from May.
“Real-time vehicle location and diagnostic data provides fleet customers with a powerful tool to manage their vehicles more effectively and also encourage safer driving,” said Paul McDermott, manager of CV aftersales at Ford.
