One of the surprises at the Geneva motor show was Seat’s unveiling of the Altea Freetrack concept, the Spanish firm’s first 4×4 for the UK market.
Officials behind the scenes have already confirmed it for production.
It will be powered by either a 240PS turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol or 170PS diesel and is expected to sell in low volumes in the UK.
Based on the Altea XL, the mud-loving Seat gains a raised ride height and all the hardware to ensure it won’t get stuck when conditions take a turn for the worst.
The four-wheel drive crossover is expected to be available only in top trims and has been tipped to arrive following the Barcelona motor show in June.
