This is the first picture of Honda‘s new CR-V, the petrol-electric hybrid, the firm hopes will give hybrids a more sporty reputation.

Arriving in the UK early this summer, the CR-Z joins its Insight hybrid sibling, and will be powered by a 114PS 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to a 14PS electric motor and, in a first for a hybrid, a manual gearbox. Predicted emissions figures are a disappointing 117g/km, while the average fuel economy is 56.4mpg, compared to a hybrid Insight’s 101 or 105g/km depending on model, and 64.2 or 61.4mpg. The bigger Toyota Prius hybrid is capable of 89g/km and 72.4mpg. The CR-Z’s 0-62mph time is 9.7 seconds.
