Jim O’Sullivan has been appointed as the chief executive of Highways England, replacing outgoing CEO Graham Dalton.
Dalton led Highways England and its predecessor, the Highways Agency for seven years before he announced his departure in January.
O’Sullivan previously worked as managing director of the airports division at Heathrow Airport Holdings for two years. Before that, he was the managing director of Edinburgh Airport.
“Jim’s experience of leading world-class infrastructure companies means I can be confident he will ensure that the benefits of the record investment this Government is making in our roads delivers for drivers and businesses across the whole of the UK on time and on budget,” said Patrick McLoughlin, secretary state for transport.
