Electrical distributor Powerteam has awarded Lex Autolease a £3.7m five-year contract to supply and manage the company’s entire fleet of vehicles.
Powerteam’s fleet of 140 commercial vehicles, including vans, specialist vehicles and 4x4s, will be used in the more remote and challenging locations in the UK and Ireland to help support the company’s growing client base, which include Scottish Power, Northern Powergrid and Electricity North West.
Of this fleet of 140 vehicles, Powerteam said that 80 are VWs, with the majority of them on a three-year term and mileage varying from 20,000 to 35,000 annually. Powerteam secured the contract from previous holders Donnelly Finance and Leasing, with Powerteam revealing it chose Lex Autolease for its experience with specialist areas of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs).
“We felt that their smart working processes and breadth of industry knowledge married well with our plans over the next five to seven years,” said Michael Enger, procurement manager at Powerteam.
“Among other things, Lex Autolease will allow us online access to all vehicle maintenance and servicing records, which will help us to deliver significant cost savings over the next number of years. As well as that, some vehicles are equipped with Bluemotion technology, which will help to cut fuel consumption and reduce harmful emissions.”
Janice Cadden, sales director at Lex Autolease, said: “We are delighted to be awarded the contract for the supply and management of the Powerteam fleet.
“We look forward to effectively managing this complex, commercial vehicle fleet as well as working in partnership with Powerteam to deliver a market-leading and cost-effective fleet strategy.”
