Social housing provider Your Housing Group has signed a deal with Lex Autolease to offer a salary sacrifice scheme to its employees.

Staff have the choice of a range of cars including a Ford Fiesta, VW Golf and BMW 3-series and the package includes insurance while up to two additional drivers can be added to the policy.

Your Housing Group chief executive Brian Cronin said: “We are always striving to build on our offering to support our staff.

“The Your Cars scheme with Lex Autolease provides staff with a straightforward, flexible, and affordable way to a new car that will help meet their motoring needs professionally and personally.”

Meanwhile, Salary sacrifice is considered irrelevant to many firms with less than 100-vehicle fleets, according to a new survey.

The research from contract hire company Grosvenor Contracts found that two thirds (69.8%) of respondents were either ‘unlikely’ or ‘highly unlikely’ to introduce a scheme this year or not sure whether they would consider it.

The findings from more than 100 businesses also highlighted that no firm said it was ‘highly likely’ to implement salary sacrifice, while less than 2% were looking to launch a scheme and only 3.8% already had one in place.

The remaining quarter (24.6%) admitted that they were unclear of the benefits of salary sacrifice and therefore felt unable to comment.

Grosvenor Contracts managing director Shaun Barritt said that there has been little appetite for salary sacrifice: “Whilst it’s something that’s been talked about quite extensively in the fleet sector with very large fleets, we’ve seen very little evidence that demand exists for companies operating under 100 vehicles, whereas we’re seeing the need for other services reaching an all time high.

“Daily rental and short-term lease are certainly two services that are seeing unprecedented demand in 2013, as companies seek flexible leasing solutions. Broader fleet management is also growing rapidly.”
