Mazda has named Neil Mayling as fleet dealer development manager in a bid to grow its fleet penetration among small- and medium-sized businesses.
The internal move comes following a record year that saw corporate sales account for 35-40% of the 50,166 Mazdas sold.
Fleet boss James Hopkins explained Mayling’s appointment: “Historically the brand and our dealers have been retail-orientated. Mazda has become more fleet-focused and some of our dealers have reaped the benefits. I now want more of our dealers to share in our corporate sales success by actively pursuing businesses close to their operations.”
Mayling’s role will consist of working closely to Mazda’s seven main fleet specialist dealers, while liaising with 100 out of 159 retailers who aspire to a slice of the corporate market.
